Xinglong-2.16m

The 2.16-m telescope is located at the Xinglong Observatory (China). It used to be the largest optical telescope in China and even in the Far East. The 2.16-m telescope, with a 2.16-m effective aperture, has Cassegrain and Coude focuses, which is simple to change to each other (only needing one minute). The 2.16-m telescope equipped with the BFOSC (Beijing-Faint Object Spectrograph and Camera), OMR Low Resolution Spectrograph and HRS (High Resolution Fiber-Fed Spectrograph), is able to do a variety of research with complete functionality. The full technical instructions can be found here.

For the next observational campaign, the GRANDMA team has obtained allocated time on the 2.16-m telescope for GW optical counterparts. It will be utilized to confirm and to follow up the candidates of optical counterparts with imaging and spectroscopy.

Partners

The telescope was researched and developed successfully by the joint work of the Beijing Observatory, the Nanjing Astronomical Instrument Research Center, the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences and some other institutes, which lasted about 15 years, and was commissioned in 1974.
